IMS is searching for a professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable individual to fill the position of Referral Coordinator in our Neurology clinic in Phoenix. The Referral Coordinator is responsible for processing referrals for the administration and coordination of referrals, maintaining updated documentation. Job Description:
- Responsible for verifying and obtaining referrals as required by insurance companies dependent upon the plan coverage for all patients
- Contacts patients for updated insurance information, where applicable and coordinates with the Financial Counselor information needed for all patients. Special emphasis for patients who are non-covered or under insured
- Prepares reports of daily activity as requested for management
- Assists management in month end reporting as requested
- Works patient treatment schedules at least daily but in advance as time allows
- Performs financial reviews and calculations based upon information received from the insurance company or plan, assists with logistical and/or clerical problem resolution related to the patient's medical record, authorization and billing issues
- Performs new patient referrals for the practice
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Hours may vary and be outside of normal office hours depending on business needs
Minimum
Education and Experience:
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of medical office/hospital setting experience
- EMR Athena experience required
- Proficient with medical terminology and insurance plan coverage/determination
- 1 year Customer Service
- Strong oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with peers and physicians
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multi-task
- Keeps a professional manner when answering the phone at all times
- Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential as required by HIPAA regulations
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
