Associate Health Informatics Analyst

This role involves designing, documenting, developing, and rolling out financial, clinical and utilization analyses using tools such as SQL and Excel. The analyst will perform ad‑hoc analyses, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of quality while participating in or leading issue definition and methodology selection.

• Performs exploratory data analysis and data mining of healthcare claims and authorizations data
• Designs, documents, develops and rolls out financial, clinical and utilization analyses using SQL, Excel and other tools
• Performs ad‑hoc analyses of varying duration and complexity
• Participates in defining issues to be studied and methodology to address them
• Provides status reports detailing project progress and time allocation
• Coordinates and mentors analytic efforts performed by in‑house staff or outside consultants to ensure completion per the project plan
• Interprets results and prepares data findings in easily understandable formats for varying levels of the organization

• Bachelor’s in Computer and Information Science or Mathematics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Less than 2 years of IT experience or analytics/informatics experience; 4 years of experience may substitute a bachelor’s degree; 2 years of experience may substitute an associate’s degree
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

• 3+ years of Transact-SQL (MS SQL or Oracle) experience
• Experience with normalized and denormalized data structures
• Experience with SAS, SPSS or other data mining tools
• Demonstrated competency in developing efficient solutions to complex business problems
• Experience manipulating and analyzing healthcare medical and pharmacy claims data
• Master’s degree in a technical or analytic field (e.g., computer science, statistics) preferred
• Understanding of CPT and ICD‑9 codes preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Interest in healthcare and a passion to make a difference
• Effective listening and communication skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to interpret query analysis results and communicate them to executive stakeholders

• Stationary position 50% of the time; occasional movement
• Operate computer and office equipment continuously
• Communicate continuously; provide accurate information
• Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds or 25 pounds

Potential pay for this position ranges from $74,000 to $118,000 based on experience and skills.
