Job Summary

The CSP intern will join our team for 18-26 weeks, working 11-19 hours each week.

  • - You would be a great fit if you have excelled in courses such as Environmental and Occupational Health, Health Education and Promotion, or Epidemiology.
Job Duties
  • - In this role, you will be responsible for conducting outreach to engage child care facilities in the AZ Choose Safe Places Program. You will also communicate with the participating facilities throughout the process and assist with developing results reports.
  • - You will also have the opportunity to learn and communicate about environmental exposures, gaining hands‑on experience with soil screening using a handheld X-ray fluorescence analyzer!
  • - You will be coached and mentored by the AZ Choose Safe Places Health Assessor, Environmental Toxicology Program Manager, and/or others on the team by collaborating with them on group projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
  • - Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • - Knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • - Time management, organization, planning, and problem‑solving skills.
  • - Knowledge of health communication strategies, health behavior, and health education theories.
  • - Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of disease control, prevention, and intervention.
  • - Knowledge of the design and accessibility of documents and the different types of products/materials used to communicate public health information.
  • - Understanding of the social determinants of health.
  • - Experience in entering and managing data.
  • - Strong skills in planning, researching, and analyzing.
Selective Preference(s)
  • - Working towards a degree and strong desire to develop beyond the classroom.
  • - Experience (including volunteer/internship), coursework, or interest in public health, epidemiology, occupational health, or environmental health.
Pre-Employment Requirements
