Position Summary The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-oriented support, mentorship, advocacy, and guidance to individuals receiving behavioral health services. Through the use of lived experience and specialized peer support training, the Peer Support Specialist helps members build resilience, develop independent living skills, navigate community resources, and achieve meaningful recovery outcomes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide one-on-one peer support services utilizing lived experience in recovery.
Assist members in identifying strengths, goals, and barriers to recovery.
Support development of wellness plans, coping skills, self-advocacy, and independent living skills.
Connect members with community resources, housing, employment, educational opportunities, healthcare services, and other supports.
Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery-focused groups and activities.
Promote recovery, resiliency, hope, self-determination, and community integration.
Encourage engagement and retention in behavioral health services.
Collaborate with clinical and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
Complete required documentation accurately and within established timelines.
Travel to various Sanctuary Recovery Centers locations and community-based services as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Required Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) in accordance with A.A.C. R).Lived experience in recovery.
Professional experience providing peer support services. (At least some experiance requried)
Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one.
Current CPR/First Aid certification (hands-on training preferred).Current TB Test or ability to obtain prior to employment.
Valid Arizona Driver's License.
Clear 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).Reliable transportation with the ability to travel between program locations.
Preferred Experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or recovery support programs.
Knowledge of community resources and Arizona behavioral health systems.
Strong communication, documentation, and advocacy skills.
