Job Summary

The Medical Director of Service Line Coverage and Clinical Lead of Applied Medical Informatics provides leadership for providers (MD, DO, NP, PA) who provide coverage for all clinical service lines. This individual also rotates to all clinical sites to better understand the intricacies and workflows of each service line within Circle the City. In addition, this individual will provide clinical leadership and operational recommendations to advance high-quality, efficient, data‑driven care across Circle the City by collaborating with the Informatics team to improve the overall efficiency and quality of medical care through continuous quality improvement (QI) initiatives, standardization of clinical workflows, optimization of health information technology systems, and effective use of population health data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Leadership and Patient Care (60%)
    • Provide direct patient care consistent with organizational standards, policies, and productivity expectations.
    • Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to vulnerable and underserved populations.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated, patient-centered services.
    • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to providers across service lines and specialties.
    • Support clinical excellence, adherence to evidence-based guidelines, and achievement of quality metrics.
    • Provide Clinical Leadership to float and PRN providers who provide coverage to all service lines to include recruiting, human resource collaboration, and clinical and administrative oversight of the Float Pool.
  • Health Information Technology and Informatics (30%)
    • Serve as the physician lead for optimization and strategic utilization of Athenahealth (Athena) electronic medical record clinical functionality.
    • Maintain and utilize administrative privileges within Athena to support workflow optimization, template design, order sets, reporting tools, and clinical decision support.
    • Collaborate with the Chief Clinical Officer, Medical and Clinical Directors, Operational Directors and Managers and the IT Team to lead initiatives to maximize the use of Azara population health management tools for quality reporting, panel management, risk stratification, and gap closure activities.
    • Partner closely with medical directors across all service lines, providers of all specialties, operational leaders, and the Information Technology team to enhance clinical outcomes, improve provider efficiency, and support organizational goals.
    • Be an integral member of the IT team to identify, prioritize, and implement technology solutions that improve clinical care delivery and provider efficiency.
    • Evaluate and provide recommendations to optimize the use of health information exchanges, payer portals, registries, and other health information platforms available to the organization.
    • Support data integrity, standardized documentation practices, and effective reporting capabilities.
    • Assist with provider training and adoption of new technologies, workflows, and system enhancements.
  • Collaboration and Leadership (10%)
    • Work collaboratively with executive leadership, medical directors of all service lines and program directors/managers to align quality and operational strategies across the organization.
    • Partner with providers regardless of specialty to support consistent clinical standards and integrated care delivery.
    • Provide leadership in change management initiatives related to clinical quality and technology optimization.
    • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and effective communication across all departments.
