Job Summary

We are is seeking a School-Based Counselor to provide behavioral health counseling, assessment, crisis intervention, care coordination, and supportive services within partnered school districts and community settings. This role is an opportunity to work directly with students and families while collaborating closely with teachers, school administrators, caregivers, behavioral health professionals, and community partners to promote emotional wellness, student success, and access to care.

What You'll Do
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling to children and adolescents in school-based settings.
  • Conduct behavioral health assessments, screenings, and ongoing clinical evaluations.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on student and family needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and stabilization support when clinically appropriate.
  • Collaborate with school personnel, caregivers, community agencies, and interdisciplinary treatment teams to coordinate care.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups and psycho educational interventions based on program and school needs.
  • Conduct school-based observations and provide interventions when clinically appropriate.
  • Participate in Child and Family Teams (CFTs), care coordination, and interdisciplinary case consultations.
  • Promote active family and school involvement throughout the treatment process.
  • Support transition planning and continuity of care for students and families.
  • Maintain an assigned caseload and meet applicable productivity expectations.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, required training, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Build collaborative and professional relationships with school administration, school staff, families, and community partners.
  • Travel between school campuses, Valle del Sol locations, and community settings as required.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for a counselor who is passionate about child and adolescent behavioral health and comfortable working collaboratively across school, family, healthcare, and community environments. The ideal candidate understands trauma-informed care, can build trust with students and families, and is able to balance independent clinical work with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Required Education

Master's degree in:
Counseling Social Work Marriage and Family Therapy Psychology Or a related behavioral health field.

Required Experience

Experience providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families.

Required Licensure & Credentials

Candidates must have an active Arizona behavioral health license or associate license, including applicable credentials such as: LMSW / LCSW LAC / LPC LAMFT / LMFT. Candidates must also meet all applicable Arizona licensure, certification, and credentialing requirements and practice within the scope of their credentials. Additional requirements include:

  • BLS certification, or ability to obtain within 5 days of starting.
  • Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card, or ability to obtain within 5 days of starting.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Proof of insurance.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully complete required pre-employment and continued employment screenings.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience providing school-based behavioral health services.
  • Experience in community behavioral health.
  • Experience collaborating with schools and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience working directly with children, adolescents, and families in complex behavioral health situations.
Salary

$25 - $36 an hour
