Position Title: Manager of Substance Use & Overdose Prevention

Reports To: CEO and CIO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Site: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid/Remote:
AzAAP staff are entrusted to work remotely from a consistent, professional home workspace. However, staff are also expected to work in-office when directed and as needed.)

Salary
: $60,000 annually (While performance based raises are considered as early as one year after joining AzAAP, the starting salary is fixed and non-negotiable.)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Substance Use and Overdose Prevention coordinates and oversees the daily functions within the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Priority Area of AzAAP. The position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating initiatives that advance substance use and overdose prevention and improve child and adolescent well-being through provider education, practice transformation, quality improvement, community partnerships, and strategic initiatives. The position also supports the organization's efforts to prevent substance use and overdose and strengthen systems of care for Arizona's children and adolescents through assigned responsibilities related to the Arizona Pediatric Opioid Prevention Network (APOPN) and related programs, projects, and initiatives.

Working collaboratively with physician leaders, healthcare providers, community and strategic partners, rural clinics, Tribal health systems, behavioral health organizations, EMS agencies, public health partners, and AzAAP members, the Manager advances evidence-based initiatives that improve the health and well-being of Arizona's children and adolescents.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:*

  • Under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, coordinates the day-to-day activities of initiatives within the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Priority Area.
  • Maintains tracking systems and collects data to support grantreporting, organizational requirements, and program evaluation for assigned programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Coordinates educational projects, provider trainings, community education, and events related to substance use and overdose prevention, child and adolescent well-being, practice transformation, and quality improvement.
  • Coordinates the Arizona Pediatric Opioid Prevention Network (APOPN), including implementation timelines, project deliverables, reporting requirements, statewide partner engagement, and coordination of assigned program activities.
  • Supports the coordination and implementation of Project ECHO cohorts, including curriculum coordination, faculty engagement, participant recruitment, learner support, and related program activities.
  • Coordinates opioid antagonist access, education, and implementation activities in collaboration with healthcare providers, community partners, public health organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Supports outreach, communication, and awareness efforts to promote substance use and overdose prevention, evidence-based practices, access to resources and appropriate services for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Maintains and strengthens relationships with healthcare providers, community and strategic partners, rural clinics, Tribal health systems, behavioral health organizations, EMS agencies, public health partners, and other stakeholders within the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Priority Area.
  • Supports practice transformation, quality improvement activities, evaluation processes, resource development, and dissemination efforts related to assigned initiatives.
