GENERAL SUMMARY

Under general supervision and reporting to the Director of HR and Recruiting, the HR Manager assists the Director in promoting a positive and responsive service‑oriented department for our primarily remote workforce in over 29 states and 4 countries. The HR Manager administers all activities of the department, including benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, training and development, policies and procedures, workers’ compensation administration, and recruiting & onboarding activities.

ESSENTIAL

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Establish, maintain, and update payroll records.
  • Open and establish new state and country entities for new payrolls as required.
  • Electronically generate and file completed onboarding materials.
  • Process payroll data reports and other specialized reports.
  • Create new reports with the system as required.
  • Assist with all HR processes including virtual new hire orientations, performance management, workers’ compensation, discipline, terminations, etc.
  • Administer onboarding processes, including electronic generation and maintenance of new hire paperwork and entry into the payroll system.
  • Analyze complex information, research, and develop solutions to complex issues.
  • Perform data entry and updates within all systems.
  • Respond to UI, STD, and LTD inquiries from various states.
  • Maintain electronic and hard‑copy employee files and HR documents.
  • Build talent pipelines for current and future job openings.
  • Manage the recruiting process from identification to onboarding of selected candidates.
  • Manage and train a team of recruiters and support staff.
  • Coordinate pre‑hire assessment procedures – drug testing, background checks, Excel/vision tests for quality candidates.
  • Work with hiring managers to identify staffing needs.
  • Collaborate with staffing team to develop and implement staffing plans and activities.
  • Review resumes for appropriate skills, experience, and knowledge.
  • Conduct interviews with candidates.
  • Assume primary responsibility for management of the Applicant Tracking System ().
  • Maintain well‑organized documentation of all candidates, searches, interview notes and other recruitment activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • Payroll software (UKG, Blue Marble), MS Office, Docu Sign, Fidelity, Employee Navigator.
  • Laws and regulations related to timekeeping, payroll preparation, and pay reporting.
  • Human resources management practices, theories, and administration.
  • US and international employment legislation and compliance.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act, Affordable Care Act (ACA), HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, 401(k).
  • Federal and state employment legislation.
  • Principles and practices of effective management and supervision.
  • ATS systems; preferably .
  • Principles and best practices of recruiting.

Skills:

  • Ensure proper authorization and documentation for disbursements.
  • Prepare clear, concise and complete payroll and HR reports.
  • Collect, evaluate and interpret technical and specialized payroll and HR information correctly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company documents and records.
  • Exercise discretion, tact and diplomacy in handling sensitive information.
  • Manage a heavy workload and multi‑task under strict timelines.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Pass pre‑hire background check, including drug screening.
