Construction Payroll Specialist

Description

Robert Half is currently looking for a Construction Payroll Specialist for an ongoing opportunity with a client in the Phoenix area. This role is responsible for processing accurate, compliant payroll for construction employees while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local labor regulations - you must have prior experience in certified payroll and prevailing wage projects. Key Responsibilities

+ Process weekly payroll for construction employees (multistate), including union and non-union workers

+ Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports (e.g., Davis-Bacon and state prevailing wage requirements)

+ Ensure accurate calculation of prevailing wages, fringe benefits, overtime, and deductions

+ Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws

+ Manage payroll records, timesheets, job cost coding, and employee classifications

+ Coordinate with project managers and HR to resolve payroll discrepancies

+ Maintain accurate employee records, including tax forms, garnishments, and benefits

+ Assist with year-end reporting (W-2s, union reports, etc.)

Requirements

Required Qualifications

+ 2 - 3 years of payroll experience in the construction industry

+ Proven experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage compliance

+ Experience processing multi-state payroll (preferred - AZ, NV, CA, TX, NY)

+ Proficiency with payroll software (ADP)
