The Payroll Supervisor oversees the accurate and timely processing of the organization’s payroll. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; manages payroll staff; audits payroll reports; and collaborates with HR and Finance to maintain payroll integrity. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, analytical skills, and deep payroll process expertise.

Key Responsibilities Payroll Operations
  • Supervise end-to-end payroll processing for hourly, salaried, and contract employees.
  • Review and approve payroll entries, adjustments, and final pay calculations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate distribution of paychecks, direct deposits, and payroll reports.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of payroll tax filings and W-2/1099 documentation.
  • Audit payroll reports to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll data.
  • Partner with HR to process employee changes, benefits deductions, and timekeeping issues.
  • Coordinate with Finance to reconcile payroll accounts and provide payroll-related data.
  • Respond to employee inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality.
System & Process Management
  • Oversee payroll system updates, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to optimize payroll accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure data integrity between payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping systems.
Qualifications Required
  • 3–5+ years of payroll experience, including supervisory or team-lead responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and wage-and-hour rules.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems (ADP, Ceridian, Paylocity, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
