How will you make an impact in this role?

  • You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs for a multi-state workforce. You will ensure benefit plans are administered accurately and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while delivering a high-quality employee experience.
  • You will serve as a key liaison between employees, vendors, brokers, and internal stakeholders, providing guidance on benefit programs, resolving complex issues, and supporting organizational wellness and total rewards initiatives.
  • You will serve as a key liaison between employees, internal stakeholders, and external vendors, supporting the organization’s commitment to employee well‑being, equity, and operational excellence.
  • You will get to exercise independent judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying benefits and leave policies and regulations, including making determinations in complex situations that materially impact employees and organizational compliance.

SPECIALIZATIONS

This position requires and relies on extensive knowledge of all the employee benefits laws, regulations, and processes. Sound judgment, a commitment to compliance and confidentiality, superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail are essential functions of this position.

  • Interpret federal and state leave and benefits regulations and determine appropriate application in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Exercise independent judgment in approving, denying, or modifying benefits determinations.
  • Apply advanced knowledge and judgment beyond standardized procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education/Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 3–5 years of experience administering employee benefits and leaves of absence. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered to meet the qualifications of this role.
  • This position requires driving on behalf of the company. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, meet the company’s motor vehicle record (MVR) standards, meets company’s insurance eligibility, and comply with all state and federal driving requirements. Ongoing employment is contingent upon maintaining an acceptable driving record.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred to effectively communicate with Spanish‑speaking clients and stakeholders
  • License and Certification: CEBP or CBP certification, preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, Section 125 plans, retirement plans, disability programs, and benefits administration best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and benefits-related reporting and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multi‑state or distributed work forces.
  • Working knowledge of FMLA and state leave laws (CA, CO etc.), ADA.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration systems. Prefer experience with ADP Workforce Now.
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Experience and commitment to working with multiethnic, multicultural, low-income populations.
