About the RoleThe Lead Systems Engineer will drive the architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise cloud services, focusing primarily on environments regulated by FedRAMP/GovRAMP. This role will lead the creation and improvement of secure, scalable, and compliant platforms on AWS and Azure while ensuring smooth operations and adherence to federal requirements.
Collaboration with infrastructure, security, Dev Ops, compliance teams, external vendors, and federal stakeholders will be essential to deliver and maintain a resilient federal platform.
Role Responsibilities Federal Platform Architecture & Engineering- Architect and implement cloud infrastructure and services within FedRAMP/GovRAMP guidelines, catering to federal clients.
- Facilitate the onboarding of new clients into the federal platform, ensuring compliance with required standards.
- Design cost-effective solutions across AWS and Azure to support long-term growth.
- Implement and maintain NIST 800-53 controls in regulated environments.
- Support Continuous Monitoring activities, tracking remediation efforts and ensuring audit readiness.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with FedRAMP/GovRAMP operational and security requirements.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of cloud infrastructure, ensuring availability and security.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis for complex platform issues.
- Proactively manage and mitigate risks to system availability and compliance.
- Design and manage identity and access management solutions, enforcing strict access controls.
- Ensure infrastructure is secure and compliant with CIS benchmarks and DISA STIGs.
- Collaborate with security engineers to enhance platform governance and mitigate audit risks.
- Design and support core services including compute, networking, storage, and load balancing.
- Manage hybrid identity architectures for federal and enterprise integrations.
- Ensure enterprise services are resilient and compliant.
- Lead technical projects and coordinate engineering teams to enhance platform capabilities.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and serve as an escalation point for complex issues.
- Document system architecture, controls, and processes clearly and accurately.
- Must be a US Citizen and able to pass government background checks.
- Over 10 years of experience in systems engineering or cloud infrastructure.
- Proven experience with FedRAMP, GovRAMP, or similar regulatory environments.
- Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure architecture and operations.
- Deep knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Proficient in networking, core enterprise services, and infrastructure automation.
- Experienced in identity federation and Office 365 integration.
- Hands-on experience with NIST 800-53 controls in production settings.
- Familiar with FedRAMP Continuous Monitoring processes and vulnerability management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage project deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts effectively.
- Experience with automation and AI tools for operational efficiency.
- Familiar with Dev Ops principles and CI/CD integration.
