Role Mainframe zOS Support Engineer
Role
Summary:
The Mainframe zOS Support Engineer will be responsible for providing end-to-end support for the FLS project's mainframe environment. The role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, incident & problem management, batch operations, system health checks, and coordination with application and infrastructure teams to ensure high availability and stability of the mainframe ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
Mainframe Production Support
Monitor zOS system health, performance, and batch processing.
Handle severity incidents, service requests, and production issues.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes.
Batch Operations & Scheduling
Support JCL executions, batch job monitoring, and troubleshooting ABENDs.
Work with scheduling tools (Control-M, CA-7, OPCTWS-based on project scope).
System & Application Support
Coordinate with application teams for deployments, changes, and fixes.
Ensure smooth functioning of CICS, DB2, MQ, VSAM, datasets, and related subsystems.
Problem, Change & Incident Management
Follow ITIL processes for change, incident, and problem management.
Participate in CAB meetings and ensure compliance with audit standards.
Environment & Performance Management
Conduct daily/weekly health checks for zOS, CICS, DB2, and storage.
Identify system performance bottlenecks and optimize job runs.
