Electronics Technician, Hardware Engineer
Responsibilities
- Stage, set up, and perform hardware deployments.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on equipment.
- Perform hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes following standard operating procedures.
- Work with cabling, network, server, and storage equipment; understand interactions between them.
- Comply with data center policies, procedures, and deadlines; report compliance issues to management.
- Complete tickets efficiently, meeting key performance indicators, and seek guidance on complex tickets.
- Review process change notifications, assess impact, and provide feedback on process changes.
- Participate in daily safety briefings; complete required environmental and health safety training and use PPE.
- Collaborate with other shifts and teams; share information and adopt best practices.
- Complete required security and data management training; escort vendors or IT support as needed.
- Maintain awareness of key performance indicators through reporting dashboards.
- Escalate client interactions and seek guidance when necessary.
- Develop understanding of cross‑functional data center processes.
- Complete required and additional training timely; observe experienced technicians to gain hands‑on experience.
- Follow procedures to communicate, report, and resolve incidents.
- Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting with guidance; replace faulty components with minimal disruption.
- Prepare, stage, set up, and perform basic startups and shutdowns for hardware per instructions.
- Verify grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling after execution.
- Perform decommissions, simple changes, and refreshes while ensuring proper data destruction.
- Work in extended periods with elevated noise, heat, and light.
- Apply for 12‑hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Occasional ladder climbing, frequent stair/ramp climbing, prolonged standing, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs (22.5 kg) and pushing/pulling 50‑75 lbs (22.5‑34 kg) with assistance. Normal visual acuity and color vision for electrical work.
Qualifications Required /Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
- Ability to work 12‑hour shifts, including non‑standard hours.
- Pass Microsoft cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
- High school diploma or equivalent – repeated for emphasis.
Data Center Technicians ATR‑B: U.S. base pay $21.88–$35.91 per hour; $30.58–$39.86 in San Francisco Bay area and New York City metro area.
Data Center Technicians ATR‑C: U.S. base pay $26.39–$46.83 per hour; $37.21–$51.73 in San Francisco Bay area and New York City metro area.
