Summary: Under general supervision, incumbent(s) sets up computer hardware and installs software applications, troubleshoots and repairs computer-related problems, and repairs audio and visual equipment. Incumbent(s) travels to various sites and determines whether set up, installation, and repairs can be performed at user site or at the systems support workstation. Incumbent(s) provides user support by responding to inquiries, maintaining pleasant and supportive service, and following up to ensure user satisfaction.
EssentialFunctions
- Sets up computer hardware and installs software applications. Ensures set up and installation performs appropriately. Troubleshoots and repairs computer problems including hardware and software applications. Determines whether problem is software or hardware related and performs repairs.
- Repairs audio and visual equipment and other technology-related peripherals to include, but not limited to, overheads, film projectors, record players, radios, laminators, televisions, laser players, compact disc players, printers, scanners, plotters, and modems.
- Travels to various departments and schools to assist users by determining software and or hardware problems that were not correctable remotely or by the District’s help desk support. Determines whether repairs must be completed on the site of machine or at the workstation.
- Determining supplies and parts needed to perform set up, installation, and repairs. Tracks supplies and parts needed to ensure up to date inventory.
- Answers user support inquiries and responds to issues related to software, hardware, integration, installation and network connectivity problems. Analyzes and resolves problems using a variety of diagnostic techniques.
- Sets up and configures PC Compatible and Macintosh computers for application software and networking. Determines software applications and hardware necessary for networking applications.
- Performs help desk duties including answering and responding to user’s calls for assistance with software, hardware, and network problems. Diagnoses, analyzes, and resolves software, hardware and network problems. Documents the nature of all calls including reporting the problem and the resolution.
- Performs other duties as required.
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired;
- One year of computer support or related experience;
- Valid Arizona Department of Transportation Driver’s License.
It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
- Associate’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related field;
- Valid MCSE certification;
- Valid A+ certification;
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish Language.
