As part of Matson’s Shared Digital Services organization, you will help architect and operate secure, resilient, scalable cloud and on‑prem infrastructure powering enterprise applications, vessel operations, terminals, and analytics workloads.

We are seeking a high‑impact Senior Cloud & Datacenter Engineer to provide architectural leadership, hands‑on engineering, and operational excellence across Matson’s AWS cloud platform and on‑prem datacenter environments.

In this role, you will architect, build, and operate Matson’s mission‑critical hybrid infrastructure, integrating modern AWS cloud platforms with on‑premises technologies. Your responsibilities span compute, storage, virtualization, automation, security, monitoring, and lifecycle management, all essential to Matson’s global logistics and transportation ecosystem.

You will design and integrate technologies including VMware vSphere/vSAN, Nutanix, Cisco UCS/HX, and storage/backup systems with AWS services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, ECS/EKS, and Lambda. This role requires the ability to independently own either cloud or datacenter domains end‑to‑end while leading modernization efforts and implementing automation using Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible, and Puppet, along with CI/CD pipelines and scripting.

You will partner cross‑functionally with cloud, security, networking, and application engineering teams to ensure reliability, performance, and operational resilience across Matson’s hybrid ecosystem.

• Design and integrate on‑prem datacenter with AWS cloud services to deliver a unified, secure hybrid environment.
• Architect, build, and operate AWS environments across multiple accounts and regions.
• Engineer solutions using EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, ECS/EKS, and Lambda.
• Design and operate containerized workloads using Amazon ECS/EKS, including cluster configuration, image lifecycle, scaling, and workload integration.
• Implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code automation patterns using Terraform and Cloud Formation.
• Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins; integrate pipelines with IaC workflows.
• Implement monitoring and observability with Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Watch, and logging frameworks.
• Lead cloud network integration: DNS, DHCP, routing, and cross‑region/multi‑VPC design.
• Lead modernization efforts across compute, storage, virtualization, and backup platforms, including VMware vSphere/vSAN, Nutanix, and Cisco UCS/HX.
• Architect, implement, and operate enterprise on‑prem platforms including Cisco UCS, Dell Power Edge, VxRail, Pure storage, and other HCI solutions.
• Manage storage, backup, and disaster protection systems such as Cohesity.
• Maintain and optimize virtualization stacks, ensuring lifecycle readiness and high availability.
• Perform capacity planning, performance optimization, and system hardening across datacenter infrastructure.
• Lead hardware refresh, platform upgrades, converged infrastructure deployments, and modernization initiatives.
• Implement and enforce security standards including IAM, privileged access, encryption, segmentation, and compliance controls.

• Develop, maintain, and scale Terraform modules for cloud and datacenter deployments.
• Implement configuration and automation using Puppet, Ansible, and scripting (Python/Power Shell/Bash).
• Build fully automated release, patching, lifecycle, and monitoring pipelines.
• Reduce operational overhead by standardizing environments and enabling self‑service provisioning.
