Mainframe zOS Support Engineer

Role

Summary:

The Mainframe zOS Support Engineer will be responsible for providing end-to-end support for the FLS project's mainframe environment. The role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, incident & problem management, batch operations, system health checks, and coordination with application and infrastructure teams to ensure high availability and stability of the mainframe ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mainframe Production Support
• Monitor zOS system health, performance, and batch processing.
• Handle severity incidents, service requests, and production issues.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes.
• Batch Operations & Scheduling Support
• JCL executions, batch job monitoring, and troubleshooting ABENDs.
• Work with scheduling tools (Control-M, CA-7, OPCTWS—based on project scope).
• System & Application Support
• Coordinate with application teams for deployments, changes, and fixes.
• Ensure smooth functioning of CICS, DB2, MQ, VSAM, datasets, and related subsystems.
• Problem, Change & Incident Management
• Follow ITIL processes for change, incident, and problem management.
• Participate in CAB meetings and ensure compliance with audit standards.
• Environment & Performance Management
• Conduct daily/weekly health checks for zOS, CICS, DB2, and storage.
• Identify system performance bottlenecks and optimize job runs.
• Stakeholder Communication
