Staff Engineer II
As a Staff Engineer II, you'll provide expertise in a suite of technical tools and products in a given domain to ensure solutions are safe, secure, compliant and reliable. You'll identify, develop and support needs, as well as taking on design responsibilities supporting project tasks. As the Staff Engineer II, you'll facilitate dialogue and activities to ensure team collaboration including teams outside of your domain.
You'll develop effective presentations and narratives for their teams
- Lead the strategic planning of a project as it relates to technical solution design.
- Design and implement engineering principles aimed at reliability practices and sound recovery procedures.
- Design transaction specific application performance monitoring metrics that can be captured and passed to business partners.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures while also ensuring compliance with IT policies, procedures, and industry standards. Develop desktop procedures when needed that others follow.
- Support and manage cloud environments using Azure and AWS technologies
- Troubleshoot and optimize system and application performance issues
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, risk controls, and industry standards
- Expand and maintain application and infrastructure monitoring solutions (e.g., Solar Winds, App Dynamics)
- Collaborate with business units and technical teams on cloud solutions and project delivery
- Develop performance metrics, reference architectures, and technical diagrams
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to build and integrate cloud-based applications
- Apply engineering practices to ensure system reliability, scalability, and recovery capabilities
- Prepare reports and maintain technical documentation
- Execute assignments independently from concept through completion
What you'll need:
- 7+ years of related experience IT App Support, IT Development, IT Networking, or similar field.
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Information Systems or Engineering (Software, Network, Electrical, etc.)
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Advanced proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Additional experience with pipeline development and leveraging Azure Dev Ops while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals. Capable of leading and motivating cross-functional teams. Expertise in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges as well as skilled at identifying and mitigating risks at the project level. Proficient in governance patterns tied to intake, technical reviews and architectural compliance.
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
- May require up to 25% travel.
- Strong knowledge of Azure and AWS cloud services.
- Experience working with both infrastructure and development teams.
- Proven ability to design and implement modern infrastructure solutions.
- Experience with monitoring and analytics tools (App Dynamics, Dynatrace, Solar Winds, Splunk/ELK, etc.)
- Knowledge of Dev Ops practices and pipeline development (Azure Dev Ops preferred).
- Strong understanding of governance, risk management, and compliance processes.
- Experience leading and managing cross-functional projects.
- Familiarity with financial services or banking industry environments preferred.
