Position Overview

As a Software Engineering Manager for PNC's Site Reliability Engineering Center, you will manage the twilight shift (Wednesday‑Sunday 11:00pm‑7:00am EST) at IT hubs in Denver, CO or Phoenix, AZ.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a 24x7 production support model; manage on‑call rotations, incident bridges, war rooms, and escalations; support pod‑based operating models aligned to key applications; ensure seamless handoffs and global support continuity.
- Manage a team of SRE engineers: coach, set goals, drive accountability, foster ownership, and promote Dev Ops/SRE best practices.
- Lead incident management and remediation; oversee end‑to‑end response for P1/P2 incidents, real‑time triage, diagnostics, and communication with stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership in production support; serve as escalation point for complex production issues across applications, infrastructure (Linux/Windows), databases (Oracle, SQL, MongoDB, Cassandra), middleware, and integrations.
- Drive problem management and root‑cause analysis; own problem records, conduct RCA, and partner with engineering for permanent fixes and knowledge sharing.
- Oversee change management and release execution; validate readiness, testing, rollback strategies, risk assessments, CAB reviews, and CPIR.
- Advance monitoring, alerting, and observability; build and optimize dashboards and alert frameworks, champion tools such as Dynatrace, Big Panda, and Logscale, improve signal‑to‑noise, enable proactive issue detection.
- Champion resiliency, stability, and availability; lead reliability initiatives, disaster‑recovery, failover, and continuity testing; reduce MTTR, uptime, and service reliability.
- Enable scalability and performance optimization; guide capacity planning, performance tuning, and design improvements in collaboration with development teams.
- Drive automation and operational efficiency; prioritize and implement automation for incident remediation, monitoring, deployment, and validation; promote standardized runbooks.
- Ensure governance, risk, and compliance; maintain adherence to enterprise policies, support audits, vulnerability remediation, and data‑governance practices.
- Have 5+ years of related experience with at least 3 years of management experience; strong experience in SRE, production support, or Dev Ops.
- Deep understanding of incident, problem, and change management frameworks.
- Hands‑on knowledge of monitoring tools, cloud/infrastructure platforms, and automation; experience improving reliability, observability, and operational maturity.
- Strong communication skills to lead during high‑pressure situations.
- Experience with OCP, Linux/Windows, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, MQ, Kafka, and related databases is a plus.
- 5+ years of industry‑relevant experience; 3+ years of management experience.
- Proven leadership in high‑availability, enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of incident, problem, and change management.
- Hands‑on experience with monitoring tools, cloud/infrastructure platforms, and automation.
- Experience improving system reliability, observability, and operational maturity.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Technical expertise in Linux/Windows, Oracle, SQL database administration, and middleware.
- Understanding of Dev Ops/SRE principles, including automated testing, deployment, and observability.
- Knowledge of OCP, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, MQ, and Kafka is preferred.

- Graduate or undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
