Job Description
The Agile Release Train Engineer (RTE) serves as the servant leader and chief facilitator for an Agile Release Train (ART), enabling the successful delivery of value across multiple Agile teams. The RTE drives Program Increment (PI) Planning, manages cross‑team dependencies and risks, facilitates continuous improvement, and ensures alignment between business objectives, architecture, and delivery execution. The role partners closely with Product Management, System Architects, Business Owners, Scrum Masters, and Technology Leadership to achieve strategic outcomes and maintain predictable delivery.
Key Responsibilities Agile Program Leadership- Lead and facilitate Agile Release Train (ART) events, including PI Planning, ART Syncs, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and Scrum of Scrums.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Coach leaders, Product Managers, Scrum Masters, and teams on SAFe Agile principles and practices.
- Drive Program Increment planning and execution to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
- Monitor ART performance, predictability, delivery commitments, and value realization.
- Facilitate resolution of cross‑team impediments, risks, and dependencies.
- Coordinate release planning and readiness activities across multiple teams.
- Partner with business and technology leaders to align priorities, roadmaps, and delivery objectives.
- Provide executive‑level reporting on delivery status, risks, dependencies, financial impacts, and key performance indicators.
- Facilitate decision‑making and escalation management when priorities or objectives conflict.
- Maintain visibility into program‑level risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Drive mitigation plans and proactively address obstacles impacting delivery.
- Ensure effective coordination across internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Establish and track Agile delivery metrics, including velocity, predictability, flow, and PI Objectives.
- Lead retrospectives and Inspect & Adapt sessions to identify improvement opportunities.
- Promote Agile maturity and best practices across the ART.
- Achievement of PI Objectives and program commitments.
- Improved ART predictability and delivery performance.

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience leading complex technology programs, Agile transformations, or large‑scale product delivery initiatives.
- 3+ years of experience serving as a Release Train Engineer, Senior Scrum Master, Program Manager, or equivalent leadership role.
- Strong expertise with SAFe Agile framework and Lean‑Agile principles.
- Experience facilitating PI Planning and managing delivery across multiple Agile teams.
- Proven ability to manage dependencies, risks, stakeholder expectations, and complex delivery environments.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, conflict resolution, and executive presentation skills.
- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification.
- SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), PMP, Scrum Master, or Agile coaching certifications.
- Experience with in financial services, banking, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience with Agile planning and portfolio management tools such as Planview, Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Rally, or similar platforms.
