Located in the vibrant city of Phoenix, Arizona, our team at the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) is seeking enthusiastic individuals for a 6-month internship as an Associate Agile Developer in Test. Job SummaryAs an intern, you will be instrumental in enhancing our enterprise applications by supporting release verification and contributing to our shift-left automation strategy. You'll collaborate with developers, QA, and Dev Ops partners to improve system reliability and reduce manual regression efforts. This role is largely remote, with occasional on-site work to foster team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Support release verification activities, including smoke and regression validation.
- Create, review, and maintain test cases aligned with user stories and risk areas.
- Build and expand automated tests using Java, JUnit, Selenium, and Cucumber (BDD).
- Collaborate with developers to clarify requirements, identify test scenarios, and promote testability.
- Improve test assets and framework components.
- Analyze test failures and contribute to defect triage.
- Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement efforts.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Java and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
- Basic understanding of software testing concepts, including Unit Testing.
- Foundational database testing skills and familiarity with SQL.
- Exposure to build tools like Maven.
- Basic scripting knowledge in at least one language (Bash/Shell, Power Shell, or Python).
- Comfortable learning and collaborating in an Agile environment.
- Exposure to continuous integration tools like Jenkins and Git Hub Actions.
- Basic familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience with automation frameworks such as Cucumber and Selenium.
- Understanding of performance and load testing fundamentals.
- Basic understanding of application security concepts and tools.
- Interest in AI/Machine Learning tools to optimize testing workflows.
- Experience with MyBatis, Tomcat, or IBM File Net workflows.
