Location: Phoenix, AZ 85007 (Hybrid - Onsite 1 day/week)

Job Type: 6-Month Contract (Staff Augmentation)

Schedule: Full-time | Day Shift | 40 Hours/Week

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Web Content Manager to oversee web content accessibility, compliance, and content strategy across agency websites. The primary focus of this role is ensuring all digital content complies with WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA
, Section 508
, and ADA accessibility standards, making online services accessible for veterans, including individuals with disabilities.

This is a hybrid position
, requiring one day per week onsite in Phoenix, AZ.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead accessibility compliance efforts across all agency websites.
  • Conduct accessibility audits using automated tools (such as Acquia
    ) and manual testing with assistive technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA
    , Section 508
    , and ADA accessibility requirements.
  • Remediate inaccessible digital assets including PDFs, forms, tables, graphics, and multimedia.
  • Convert legacy PDFs into accessible HTML or fully tagged PDF documents.
  • Write, edit, and maintain clear, user-friendly web content explaining veteran benefits and services.
  • Administer and maintain the organization's Drupal CMS
    .
  • Manage website taxonomy, navigation, responsive design, and brand consistency.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to maintain accurate and up-to-date website content.
  • Provide accessibility training, documentation, and best practices for internal content contributors.
  • Optimize web assets including heading structures, image alt text, descriptive links, captions, and transcripts.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Web Development or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Drupal CMS
    .
  • Experience implementing and maintaining WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA accessibility standards.
  • Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
    .
  • Experience conducting accessibility testing using automated and manual testing methods.
  • Strong understanding of semantic HTML5, CSS, responsive web design, and content accessibility.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to simplify complex government information.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools (Acquia or similar).
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies including:
  • JAWS
  • NVDA
  • Voice Over
  • Speech recognition software
  • Experience remediating PDFs and digital documents.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX best practices and plain-language content writing.
Work Authorization & Submission Requirements
  • Local Phoenix, AZ candidates only.
  • Candidate must currently reside in the Phoenix area.
  • Must be available for an in-person interview within one week after the posting closes.
  • Must be able to start within two weeks of receiving an offer
