Job Title: Web Content Manager
Pay Rate: $25 – $30 per hour (W2)
Our client is seeking a Web Content Manager to oversee the accessibility, clarity, and daily operations of their public-facing web properties. In this role, you will lead web content governance, eliminate digital barriers for users relying on assistive technologies, and collaborate across divisions to ensure seamless online communication.
Here's What You'll Be Doing- Evaluating and auditing digital assets and web pages to enforce strict compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 (Level AA) standards and federal Section 508 accessibility guidelines using automated scanning tools and manual testing (screen readers, keyboard navigation).
- Remediating and optimizing digital media, including converting legacy documents into accessible HTML or screen-reader-compliant PDFs, while ensuring multimedia features proper captions and transcripts.
- Authoring, editing, and publishing clear, plain-language web copy that breaks down benefit programs, legislative updates, and public services into intuitive, user-friendly guides.
- Administering daily CMS operations (Drupal), enforcing site taxonomy, responsive mobile design, and brand style guides across various program sites.
- Collaborating with division heads and program stakeholders to streamline navigation and train internal teams on accessibility best practices (such as proper heading structure, color contrast, and alt-text).
- Hands-on experience with Drupal for daily content management, page building, and site navigation administration.
- Proven knowledge of web accessibility standards, specifically WCAG 2.1/2.2 (Level A & AA), Section 508 compliance, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA Title II).
- Demonstrated ability to perform accessibility testing using assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, Voice Over) and automated site auditing tools.
- Strong writing and copyediting skills with a focus on plain-language standards and converting regulatory/program details into scannability focused content.
- Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
