Job Summary

The defining priority of this position is the implementation, audit, and strict enforcement of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1/2.2, Level AA standards) across all digital properties. Given that a significant percentage of the target audience includes individuals with disabilities, visually or hearing-impaired users, aging populations, and assistive-technology dependents, the Digital Accessibility & Web Content Specialist ensures that no digital barrier prevents end-users from accessing essential programs, services, and support.

Job Duties
  • Accessibility Compliance & WCAG Governance (Primary Focus):
Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on applicable regulatory standards (including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA compliance). Conduct systematic, routine accessibility audits using both automated enterprise scanning tools and manual keyboard navigation and screen-reader testing.
  • Document Remediation & Media Optimization:
Audit, remediate, and catalog all public-facing digital media. Convert legacy, non-compliant PDFs into semantic, accessible HTML or fully tagged, screen-reader-friendly PDFs. Ensure all multimedia components feature synchronized captions, descriptions, and text transcripts.
  • User-Centric Content Strategy:
Write, edit, and optimize plain-language web copy that breaks down complex policy, application pipelines, and administrative updates into clear, actionable instructions. Eliminate dense jargon in favor of intuitive, user-friendly layouts.
  • Cross-Divisional Digital Coordination:
Partner closely with internal program leads across operational divisions to update, streamline, and maintain their respective digital footprints.
  • Platform Administration & Brand Integrity:
Administer the daily operations of the Content Management System (CMS), enforcing consistent site taxonomy, intuitive navigation paths, responsive mobile design, and adherence to enterprise digital brand guidelines.
