Our client, a leading organization in the technology and data management sector, is seeking a Data Center IT Hardware Technician to join their team. As a Data Center IT Hardware Technician, you will support the Data Center Operations team by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining critical IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for working with hardware and technology in a fast-paced environment.
Job Title: Data Center IT Hardware Technician
Location: Phoenix, AZ – Goodyear/El Mirage (Onsite)
Contract Length: 18 months
Pay Range: $27 - $28/hour on W2 based on experience and skill level
What's the Job?- Prepare, stage, configure, and deploy IT equipment while following established procedures and safety protocols.
- Perform equipment startups, shutdowns, and operational support activities within a data center environment.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling of equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues, identify root causes, and perform break-fix repairs on servers and related components.
- Support hardware decommissioning efforts, system refresh projects, memory upgrades, and operating system rebuilds.
- Monitor systems for equipment failures, alarms, and error messages and respond appropriately.
- Maintain accurate documentation of equipment installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data center operations run efficiently and effectively.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Computer Science degree, coursework, or CompTIA A+ and/or Server+ certification preferred.
- Experience as a Data Center Technician with hardware troubleshooting and break-fix responsibilities.
- Previous experience with Geek Squad, computer repair, desktop support, or similar technical support roles is highly desirable.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, networking components, and IT infrastructure.
- 1-5 years of experience supporting IT equipment, data center operations, or related technologies.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work non-standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
