Skills & Experience:

5+ years of experience in data analysis, data management, business data analysis, or similar. Extensive SQL Server experience. Experience working within Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) or large-scale enterprise data environments. Experience investigating data issues and performing root cause analysis. Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into technical solutions. Experience with source-to-target mapping and data flow analysis. Experience building reports and dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.

Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both business stakeholders and technical teams. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Banking, financial services, or fintech experience. Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.

Skills & Experience:

Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure data technologies. Experience with data governance concepts including data quality, lineage, cataloging, and business glossary management. Exposure to governance tools such as Informatica, Collibra, Alteryx, Microsoft Purview, or similar platforms. Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe environments. Microsoft certifications such as Azure Fundamentals or Fabric certifications.

Job Description:

Our client in the banking and financial services industry, is seeking a Senior Business Data Governance Analyst to serve as the critical liaison between business stakeholders and the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) team.

This role is responsible for translating business questions into data requirements, investigating data anomalies, validating data quality, performing SQL-based analysis, and providing insights through dashboards and reporting.

The ideal candidate combines strong SQL skills, business acumen, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

The team operates in a Microsoft-centric environment and supports an enterprise data platform built on Azure and transitioning to Microsoft Fabric.

What Success Looks Like In this role, you will:
Help business leaders understand and trust enterprise data. Identify the root cause of reporting and data quality issues. Translate complex business questions into actionable data solutions. Bridge communication between business stakeholders and technical teams. Enable more effective decision-making through accurate data and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, and operational data needs. Translate business requirements into technical requirements for engineering and data teams. Investigate data discrepancies and perform root cause analysis across source systems, data lake, and warehouse environments. Validate data accuracy and troubleshoot issues related to transformations, business logic, and data movement. Perform data analysis using SQL Server and enterprise data assets.

Create and maintain source-to-target mapping documentation. Develop and support data quality initiatives and governance practices. Build dashboards and visualizations using Power BI to communicate findings and recommendations. Present analytical insights and data findings to business leaders. Collaborate closely with data engineers, data modelers, and business partners to ensure successful delivery of data solutions.
