Claims Manager – Complex Claims Unit

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred; advanced degree or relevant professional designation, including JD, CPCU, AIC, or ARM, are a plus
• Minimum of 7 years of casualty claim experience within a property and casualty claim organization
• Significant experience handling environmental, toxic tort, asbestos, sexual molestation, latent bodily injury, or other complex long-tail liability claims
• Strong understanding of complex insurance coverage issues, occurrence-based liability coverage, allocation, trigger theories, long-tail exposures, bankruptcy trust considerations, and multi-year claim analysis
• Ability to evaluate liability, coverage, damages, and litigation risks and develop claim resolution strategies
• Superior negotiation, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Prior management experience, including direct leadership, employee development, mentoring, or project leadership
• Ability to influence and collaborate across business functions and with senior stakeholders
• Ability to coach technical claim professionals and provide strategic recommendations to management
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Experience managing high‑severity litigation and coordinating with outside counsel, experts, consultants, and stakeholders
• Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage workload in a fast‑paced environment
• Commitment to customer service, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and continuous improvement
• Strong technical acumen and proficiency with Microsoft Office and AI-enabled technologies, including Microsoft Copilot
• Ability to quickly learn and leverage new systems and tools

Demonstrates expertise in managing complex environmental and long-tail liability claims, with a strong focus on strategic oversight, negotiation, and team leadership. Proficient in developing innovative claim resolution strategies while ensuring high-quality customer service and operational excellence.
