Director, Underwriting Operations – Commercial P&C

• Lead and direct staff, emphasizing talent management and succession planning
• Develop action plans and execute the overall underwriting portfolio strategy
• Monitor performance, identify issues, and implement solutions
• Manage underwriter workloads and staffing levels to meet organizational and customer needs
• Identify productivity improvements and develop procedures to increase team efficiency and effectiveness
• Establish, enhance, and manage adherence to underwriting guidelines and compliance policies
• Reinforce underwriting expectations and provide guidance and feedback
• Ensure alignment with underwriting strategy and execution of key initiatives
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve company goals
• Leverage data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration to optimize underwriting performance
• Monitor market trends and advance technical expertise
• Position the department for success through industry best practices and strategic alignment

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work-related experience
• 7 years middle market marketing and underwriting experience
• 3 years management experience of middle market underwriters preferred
• Proficient computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong leadership capability with experience in building and leading highly successful teams
• Demonstrated ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams
• Strategic thinking with analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast-paced, highly visible, and changing environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers
