Technical Instructor

Background

The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

As a knowledgeable and engaging Technical Instructor at Lam, you will be shaping a skilled workforce in advanced semiconductor hardware maintenance and operation. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, a passion for teaching, and the ability to craft course content specifications and provide engaging lesson plans. Through a blend of classroom lectures, online formats, multi‑media, and hands‑on laboratory sessions, you will deliver impactful instruction to our teams and clients while equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving technical landscape.

Must be open to travel.

• Develop and deliver technical training for internal and external trainees.
• Provide hands‑on support and guidance to trainees during laboratory, multi‑media, and simulator sessions.
• Provide feedback on training materials, including lesson plans, presentations, and technical documentation.
• Evaluate trainee performance and provide constructive feedback to improve skills.
• Support and maintain lab equipment to provide the highest level of training.
• Conduct training courses for customers and/or employees at Lam’s Training Centers using complex situations for multiple products.
• Undergo training and qualifications in Fremont, CA or Tualatin, OR, depending on the products you will support; this may require extended stays in the assigned location.
• Relocate to Phoenix, AZ on or about May 2027, with full relocation assistance provided.
• Must be open to travel up to 10% after the first year.

• Minimum of eight years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or six years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with three years of experience; or equivalent experience.

• Proven experience as a technical trainer, instructor, or educator.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e‑learning tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt training methods to different learning styles and audiences.
• Background in semiconductor hardware maintenance.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on‑site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On‑site Flex and Virtual Flex. “On‑site Flex” you’ll work 3+ days per week on‑site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week.

“Virtual Flex” you’ll work 1–2 days per week on‑site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
