SUMMARYThe Interpreter/Receptionist greets, screens, and assists visitors and incoming phone calls. Facilitates the efficient and effective flow of communication between staff, students, and families by providing written and oral interpretation and translation for non‑English speakers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Greets and screens visitors and phone calls; responds to inquiries or directs to appropriate personnel in accordance with district policies regarding building security and safety. Answers school site telephone system, interprets and transfers calls, takes messages and disseminates to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
- Interprets and translates for school‑related activities, including disciplinary hearings and parent/teacher conferences; attends both in‑person and telephone meetings to translate for non‑English speaking individuals.
- Translates written documents for school purposes, maintaining content, context, and style as much as possible; uses reference materials to ensure accuracy.
- Makes phone calls to non‑English speakers regarding student behavior, attendance, and academic performance.
- Follows all district procedures and policies to ensure confidentiality of student information.
- Provides general clerical support to site administrators by creating and maintaining updates to campus directory, schedules, and calendars, and responding to general inquiries in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal interactions with all district staff and customers; maintains an attractive and professional reception area.
- Supports the district’s relationship with the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work‑related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.
High School diploma or GED equivalent and one year of clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Bilingual, biliterate in English and Spanish.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTSPossess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.

- Ability to speak, read, write, and translate English and Spanish.
- Skill in accurately translating documents.
- Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrates computer literacy and appropriate keyboarding skills.
- Ability to type and enter data with speed and accuracy.
- Skill in writing professional reports and correspondence from brief instructions.
- Skill in understanding, explaining, and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.

Work is performed in a standard office environment. Flexible work hours as necessary to accommodate campus need.
