Description

The Department Interpreter Lead will work closely with the Language Access Manager to maintain quality control for language access services and ensure effective communication occurs between the health care provider and the patient and family in a respectful, and effective manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Keeps staff informed of new or updated standards, systems, procedures, forms and manuals through staff meetings and verbal and written communications.
  • Suggests alternative methods and procedures for solving problems.
  • Assists with holding team accountable for their performance.
  • Collaborates within teams to provide comprehensive training for staff, ensuring training model is patient-centered and mission-focused.
  • Works as an extension of their manager, both addressing issues or barriers in real time and providing feedback to the manager about issues and barriers they are addressing.
  • Provides bilingual interpretation (English and Spanish) for limited English proficient patients to ensure accurate and effective communication occurs between patients, family members, and health care team members.
  • Serves as primary and “float” interpreter within assigned department.
  • Assist the Language Access Manager in the translation of documents, delivery of interpreting training and special topic language access projects.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation of all interpreted encounters occurring in patient's medical record.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Travels to multiple locations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in language access services.
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in Linguistics, Spanish, or Health-related topic
