Must be local to one of the West Coast Offices — Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, or Seattle.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze legal conflicts related to new business matters.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs) received from clients.
- Collaborate with partners and administrative stakeholders to prepare OCG responses aligned with firm engagement policies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, including state‑specific and jurisdictional variations.
- Monitor ABA and jurisdictional rules for changes and recommend policy updates to the Director of Conflicts Counsel.
- Review and evaluate waiver and engagement letter language to ensure appropriate treatment of conflicts, scope of work, and fee arrangements.
- Consult with attorneys, New Business Intake (NBI) staff, and the Director of Conflicts Counsel to identify and resolve potential conflicts of interest while maintaining professional independence and objectivity.
- Provide clear documentation of conflict resolutions to attorneys and NBI coordinators, including drafting waiver language and obtaining required waivers prior to matter opening.
- Document OCG resolutions and collaborate with attorneys to appropriately address deviations from firm engagement policies.
- Confirm the need for and implementation of ethical walls to screen individuals from specific clients or matters.
- Participate in professional organizations focused on ethics and professional responsibility in the legal industry.
- Assist with special projects as requested by NBI, the Director of Conflicts Counsel, the General Counsel, or the Chief Legal Officer.
- Perform other duties as assigned by firm leadership.
- Active bar membership in good standing (required).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Strong computer and technical skills.
- At least two years of experience in conflicts clearance and review of outside counsel guidelines in a large law firm (preferred).
- Prior experience with Intapp Open and Intapp Terms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, and database management systems.
