APEL Extrusions, Inc. is an independent extruder, finisher and fabricator of aluminum extrusions, with six extrusion presses and a full array of finishing capabilities occupying over 600,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space employing approximately 300 people. With facilities in Calgary Canada, Coburg Oregon, and Phoenix Arizona, APEL serves the commercial, residential, and industrial markets of Western Canada and the Western United States.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Procurement Manager has overall responsibility for sustaining and improving the APEL sourcing, purchasing, vendor management, and inventory control functions. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for material availability, cost efficiency, and optimized inventory levels to support production, quality, and delivery targets. The role serves as the head of purchasing and inventory management, managing a small but scalable team while building a high-performance procurement organization aligned with company growth, operational excellence, and supply chain resiliency.

• The Procurement Manager is responsible for the buying of products and services for the organization which includes; manufacturing and production materials, office and plant supplies, and equipment components or services.
• Working with Operations Personnel, Customer Service, The Technical Group, Departmental Managers, and the Company’s Management Team, the Procurement Manager ensures production has material inventory sustainability while playing a pivotal role in APEL’s continuous Improvement Process.
• Work with Finance, Operations, Sales, and our customers to develop processes and procedures to eliminate issues.

• Partner with operations, finance, and sales to align procurement with forecasts and production plans.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and secondary sources.
• Lead vendor selection, onboarding, qualification, and ongoing performance management.
• Implement supplier scorecards (cost, quality, delivery, service).
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms for optimal value.
• Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
• Collaborate with finance on budgeting, forecasting, and spend analysis.
• Collaborate with departments and identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
• Maintain and analyze detailed inventories of materials and supplies .
• Maintain required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers, working with other departments.

• A proven record of senior management success in a fast paced, customer focused, manufacturing environment.
• Strong expertise in inventory control, planning, and material flow.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Deep understanding of commodity purchasing and supply chain dynamics.
• Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Data-driven decision-making and analytical capability.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related fields, focusing on procurement, supply chain management and operations.
• Five years of experience as a supervisor or manager, of procurement and/or supply chain management.
