Mercury Systems is seeking a motivated Buyer II to support procurement activities that ensure the timely delivery of materials, products, and services critical to our mission. In this role, you will partner with internal stakeholders and suppliers to procure materials and services while supporting production schedules, customer commitments, and business objectives. You will manage the procurement lifecycle from sourcing and purchase order placement through supplier performance, issue resolution, and contract compliance.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Procure materials, products, and services to support manufacturing, operational, and program requirements
  • Manage the full procurement lifecycle, including supplier sourcing, RFQs, purchase order creation, order maintenance, invoice resolution, and supplier follow-up
  • Evaluate supplier proposals based on cost, quality, delivery, and overall value while ensuring continuity of supply
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and other commercial agreements to support business objectives
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, CPSR requirements, FAR/DFARS regulations, and applicable government contracting requirements
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively resolve quality, delivery, and contractual issues to minimize production disruptions
  • Support inventory management initiatives while meeting departmental objectives for cost savings, on-time delivery, and supplier performance
  • Engage suppliers early in the product development lifecycle to support cost targets, manufacturability, and long-term sourcing strategies
  • Analyze procurement data and market trends to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and supply chain optimization
  • Communicate procurement status, risks, and mitigation plans with program teams and leadership
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field
  • Typically requires 2+ years of procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or related business experience
  • Proficiency utilizing ERP/MRP systems, preferably Oracle
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of government procurement regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and CPSR requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple assignments and manage competing deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting procurement activities within the aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing industry
  • Experience supporting technical procurement or engineered products

Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position

  • $65,200.00 - $ annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
  • $73,000.00 - $ annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
  • $76,900.00 - $ annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ
