TITLE:
CUSTODIAN I (NIGHT LEAD) QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess high school diploma, GED or relevant experience.
- Two year experience in custodial supervision preferred.
- Lift and manipulate equipment and materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner.
- Operate job-related equipment.
- Relate to public, staff and students in a positive manner.
This position is responsible for providing direction and supervision for assigned custodial staff with minimal supervision. Keep the District school buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide instruction in work methods, assist Plant Manager in training and orientation of new employees.
- Clean classrooms, cafeterias, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, sidewalks and other assigned areas.
- Sweep, dust, vacuum, scrub, wax and polish floors.
- Wash windows, walls, woodwork and equipment.
- Empty trash receptacles.
- Move furniture and equipment for cleaning and special events
- Replace light bulbs.
- Do minor maintenance and repair work.
- Report safety hazards or needs for major repairs.
- Responsible security of building and grounds.
- Work with the after-school activities as per Plant Manager and/or Campus Administrator instructions.
- Report attendance of night custodians to Plant Manager.
- Supervise other custodial staff.
- Understand and apply safety-related precautions as outlined in SDS (safety data sheets).
- Operate equipment including, but not limited to, the following: hand tools, buffer, vacuum, auto-scrubber, blower, carpet machine, wet-dry vacuum, sidewalk sweeper, carpet cleaner, etc.
- Having a working proficiency with general computer applications and stay current with email.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager and/or Campus Administrator
- Provide back-up supervision in the absence of the Plant Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customer or employees.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations / issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and verbal form.
EVALUATIONPerformance will be evaluated by the Plant Manager.
SUPERVISIONSupervised by the Plant Manager and in their absence, Principal and/or Director of Maintenance and Transportation. Exercises no supervisory responsibilities.
GRADE / LENGTH OF WORK YEARGrade C $16.75-$20.74 (DOE)
52 week position/Hours are for evening shift, approximately 1:00pm - 9:30pm and may vary by school
