Responsibilities

Janitors perform all-purpose cleaning and preservation of assigned areas, including buildings, hospitals, warehouses, shopping malls, or other facilities. Duties are flexible and may include any cleaning tasks assigned by a supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Empty and clean all waste containers
• Stock restrooms with paper supplies and hand soap
• Handle emergency clean‑ups such as bodily fluids and waste
• Remove paper, garbage, and recycling from premises to a selected area; damp‑wipe containers
• Empty and clean all ashtrays, monitor sand urns, and restore sand as required
• Dust all image frames, charts, graphs, and wall hangings from high to low heights
• Damp‑wipe all ceiling air conditioning ducts, partition grilles, register, and other ventilating units
• Dust outside surfaces of light fixtures, glass, and plastic enclosures
• Vacuum all mats, carpeted areas, lobbies, and corridors
• Hand‑dust and clean all office furnishings, files, fixtures, paneling, windowsills, and flat surfaces
• Keep sink rooms dirty‑free, tidy, and arranged
• Wipe, clean, buff, and polish all metal hardware fixtures
• Appropriately clean tile floor surfaces as required
• Follow all safety and workers rules and regulations
• Dust and/or wash all index boards and eliminate fingerprints and smudges
• Clean entry door glass inside and outside surfaces
• Brush or dust mop restroom and common area floors
• Clean or damp‑mop exterior entry areas
• Remove all stains from vertical surfaces such as doors, frames, and light switches
• Wash, clean, and sterilize all water coolers and refrigerators
• Vacuum all private stairways if carpeted
• Keep watch over stairwells and damp‑mop spillage
• Disinfect all touch points and areas that need to be disinfected

• Good verbal communication skills
• Able to work well with all levels of employees and managers
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Ability to perform the job with minimal supervision
• Regular and timely attendance
