Senior Controller

📍 Greater Phoenix, AZ (Fully Onsite)

This is a fully onsite leadership opportunity offering a $160-190K base salary plus discretionary bonus.

A privately held, well-capitalized development firm is seeking a Senior Controller to lead and fully own the accounting function across active development projects and related operating entities.

The Senior Controller will report directly to ownership and serve as the top financial leader responsible for all accounting operations, financial reporting, and development-related financial oversight.

The Senior Controller will oversee the full accounting lifecycle across multiple entities and projects, ensuring accurate reporting, disciplined cost tracking, and strong financial controls. This individual will work closely with ownership on project performance, capital planning support, lender compliance, and overall financial visibility.

The ideal candidate is comfortable operating both strategically and in the details; especially within development and construction accounting.

• Fully own and lead all accounting operations across multiple entities
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Lead accounting for active development and construction projects, including job cost tracking, WIP, and draw management
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow oversight
• Oversee loan compliance, lender reporting, and capital draw processes
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party partners
• Supervise and mentor 2 direct reports
• Strengthen processes, internal controls, and reporting infrastructure

• 12+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience
• Strong development and construction accounting experience required
• Deep expertise in job costing, WIP, and project-based accounting
• Experience operating as the senior-most accounting leader in a lean environment
• CPA strongly preferred
• Highly detail-oriented with the ability to operate at both executive and operational levels
