Executive Director College Foundation

The Executive Director College Foundation is responsible for advancing philanthropic giving through the Cochise College Foundation and the planning and execution of a fundraising strategy that promotes a positive and persistent public image of the college and foundation.

Cochise College serves the residents of Cochise County from two campuses and four centers throughout Southern Arizona with panoramic views of five different mountain ranges. The college has been recognized nationally for its cost, return on investment, and high success rate; providing over 90 general and technical education programs leading to a variety of workforce certificates and associate degrees. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).

About Cochise County – Explore Cochise

Duties and Responsibilities

Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:

  • Coordinates and manages fundraising strategies and campaigns through collaboration with college staff, the foundation board of directors, and financial and legal professionals; establishes and cultivates alumni and donor relationships and outreach; manages the foundation audit process; and coordinates Foundation scholarship funding, promotion, applications and awards
  • Cultivates and manages stewardship of gifts, inspiring loyalty and commitment of stakeholders; raising public awareness through creative, cost-conscious, effective and future focused communications support and fundraising
  • Coordinates and executes special events that foster a positive image among college stakeholders; assists with outreach activities as directed by administration
  • Personally solicits funds via face-to-face solicitations, implementing special events, annual campaigns, and any other appropriate fund-raising programs as deemed appropriate
  • Identifies major prospects and assures appropriate cultivation of planned gift donors in partnership with the college
  • Identifies the college's audience and determines issues relevant to the institution; monitors public opinion regarding these issues; represents the college and the college foundation at public events
  • Responds to requests from college departments for alumni outreach, fundraising, and communications strategies; develops and oversees the department's budgets
  • Evaluates the success of the Foundation on an annual basis and provides recommendation to improve effectiveness of all development efforts
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty and staff, and the public. Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Bachelor's degree in related field from an institution accredited by an institutional accrediting body of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education; master's degree preferred

Five years of fundraising or non-profit management related experience, including two years' leadership/management experience

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures used in the planning, development, marketing, and delivery of a major fundraising and resource development program in higher education

Knowledge of leadership techniques, strategic planning, resource allocation, staffing, and supervision

Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures

Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, donor…
