Day in the Life:

The Trauma Hospital Supervisor coordinates and oversees the daily care and treatment of animals in the Trauma Hospital, ensuring compassionate, humane, and timely care. This role leads, trains, and supports the Trauma Hospital Medical Team, coordinates staffing and daily assignments, maintains inventory and cleanliness, and helps ensure smooth patient flow across departments.

The Supervisor also partners with the Trauma Hospital Manager to support staff performance, safety, OSHA compliance, policies and procedures, and overall department goals. This is a hands‑on leadership role that works alongside the medical team while helping create a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment for both staff and the animals in our care.

Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Graduation from technical school preferred
  • 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or shelter medicine.
  • 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a veterinary hospital, animal welfare, or comparable healthcare environment.
  • Must be able to fulfill all duties of a Vet Tech II or CVT with proficiency in: phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology, anesthesia, pharmacology and perform safe and humane animal handling.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to function in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Exceptional level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, adaptability, judgment and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and foster positive attitudes in a team‑oriented environment.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk up to 10 hours per day, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift, tether and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals.

There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
