Salary: $225,000 - $270,000 per year
A bit about us:
We are an established, privately backed healthcare organization that manages and supports physician practices, surgery centers, and hospital-based service lines across a number of markets. We have grown steadily through partnership and expansion, and we are continuing to add markets and business units. We are hiring an Executive Vice President of Revenue Optimization to lead revenue cycle across the enterprise. This is a chance to join a stable organization with experienced leadership and a real appetite for growth, where revenue cycle is treated as a strategic function rather than a back office.
Why join us?
- Large privately backed national healthcare organization in expansion mode
- This seat opened because the prior leader was promoted into an operating executive role inside the organization. Internal advancement is the norm here.
- Rare enterprise scope for a revenue cycle executive, with responsibility spanning corporate and multiple market-level teams across the country.
- Primarily remote with structured, predictable travel. Monthly trips to the corporate office for executive leadership meetings, plus periodic visits to the markets you support.
- Reports directly to a chief-level executive and works alongside the operating leaders of each market, so decisions get made in the room rather than routed through layers.
This executive leads national revenue cycle strategy and operations across specialty hospitals, ASCs, and clinic business offices. The role owns billing, collections, accounts receivable, patient financial services, and the policies and performance standards that govern them.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the national revenue cycle strategy, including current and future approaches to billing, payment processing, collections, receivables, and patient financial planning.
- Establish enterprise-wide policies, written guidelines, and procedures, and drive consistent implementation across all markets and business units.
- Manage AR and bad debt to agreed-upon targets, monitor the timeliness and effectiveness of collection efforts, and keep insurance billing current within established time frames.
- Build performance metrics, standards, and national benchmarking to control revenue cycle performance, and consolidate reporting that tracks progress against goals.
- Produce projections, budget input, and monthly analysis that support the enterprise forecast process, and keep operating expenses within budget and fiscal guidelines.
- Redesign and improve workflows across front office policies and processes, billing, collections, AR, and patient financial planning to drive consistency in critical success factors.
- Design the organizational structure for the revenue cycle team, staff it, and lead it through regular operating cadences that keep plans, programs, and projects on schedule.
- Develop team performance measures, run formal performance reviews, implement a performance improvement program, and build training that supports continuous staff development.
- Lead revenue cycle integration when the company enters new markets or adds business units in existing markets.
- Establish communication strategies that give providers across all markets a clear understanding of revenue optimization processes.
- Oversee patient services and billing staff on patient relations, and resolve complex patient complaints and escalations involving company policy and state and federal compliance.
- Partner with clinical and operational leaders to monitor patient relations, including regular patient satisfaction surveys.
- Ensure records are stored and handled in compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations, and that Notices of Privacy Practices are properly displayed.
- 10+ years of revenue cycle management experience, including 5+ years of hands-on revenue cycle leadership at the VP level or above.
- 10+ years of increasing executive responsibility with proven results, including significant experience supporting large, multispecialty physician practices across multiple locations.
- Deep revenue cycle expertise in specialty or private practice billing and scheduling, including patient access and scheduling best practices and standards.
- Strong financial management background with command of complex reimbursement structures and the government regulations that govern billing.
- Working knowledge of healthcare market dynamics and trends, workflow management, service line development, and how strategy translates into an operating model.
- Track record building, coaching, and mentoring high-performing teams in a technology-enabled, multi-site environment.
- Strong command of practice management billing and scheduling systems, plus Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills strong enough to turn strategic…
