Position SummaryProcess Mechanic is responsible for setting up, maintaining and troubleshooting injection molding machines and associated support equipment. Assures the accurate, complete, timely, safe and efficient setup and ongoing operational performance of all processing equipment on which they perform their duties. This is 3rd Shift, Sunday‑Thursday 10:00 pm‑6:30 am.
Major Areas Of Responsibility- Complete accurate and timely processing machine changeovers. Ensure that upon completion of the set up, the process is operating at the specified cycle specifications to achieve maximum yield.
- Troubleshoot process problems and make complete, accurate and timely adjustments and repairs.
- Ensure that all processing equipment on which they perform their assigned responsibilities operate in the most efficient manner possible.
- Perform and/or coordinate mold samplings of new and/or existing molds.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on in‑press molds and molding machines as required.
- Assist maintenance mechanics with higher level maintenance tasks as required.
- Demonstrated strong skills in set‑up and repair in the plastics industry strongly preferred.
- Broad theoretical knowledge and mechanical experience in hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical.
- Good mathematical skills to perform shop calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Strong command of the written language, to include technical manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Understand and effectively be able to use material safety data sheets (MSDS).
- Ability to read and interpret cap drawings and blueprints, and effectively utilize them in performing job duties, as well as in determining whether the product meets quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to make well‑thought‑out decisions and ensure appropriate courses of action are taken.
- Must provide own basic mechanic hand tools to perform the required job duties effectively and as assigned.
- Vision must be correctable to ’20‑20’ to read all necessary work related materials and visually identify defects in products being produced. Must be able to perceive and accurately identify differences in colors and shadings.
- Hearing acuity sufficient to understand spoken instructions or phone conversations in a factory environment.
- 1 to 2 years of mechanical experience required.
- Industrial maintenance degree or certificate, or similar education a plus.
- Plastics industry experience a plus.
- Demonstrated strong skills in set‑up and repair in the plastics industry strongly preferred.
- Clean and safe work environment.
