Rebuild Technician / Shop Mechanic

Turner Staffing Group is seeking a Rebuild Technician / Shop Mechanic to support high-volume component rebuild and repair operations. This role is ideal for a mechanically strong technician who thrives in a fast-paced shop environment and takes pride in precision rebuild work. The position focuses heavily on component teardown, inspection, rebuild, and testing, with a strong emphasis on reading schematics and working to tight tolerances.
This is a hands-on role supporting fleet and field operations by restoring critical components to service-ready condition.
Key ResponsibilitiesRebuild and overhaul mechanical components including:
Hydraulic cylinders
Gearboxes and drive trains
Cylinder heads and related assemblies
Disassemble, inspect, measure, and reassemble components to specification
Diagnose component failures and determine repair or rebuild requirements
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation
Perform precision work using hand tools, presses, measuring tools, and shop equipment
Identify wear patterns, failure causes, and recommend corrective actions
Test rebuilt components to verify proper function and performance
Maintain accurate rebuild documentation and work orders
Work efficiently in a production-oriented shop with multiple rebuilds in progress
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
Collaborate with shop leadership and peers to meet turnaround timelines
Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on rebuild experience
Proven experience rebuilding hydraulic cylinders, heads, gearboxes, or similar components
Strong ability to read and work from schematics and technical drawings
Experience working in fast-paced shop or production rebuild environments
Familiarity with tight tolerances, measurements, and quality control standards
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures and identify root causes
Experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
Welding or fabrication experience is a plus but not required
High attention to detail and workmanship quality
Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize work
Mechanical problem-solving mindset
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working under production deadlines
Commitment to safety and continuous improvement
10 days on / 4 days off (10×4 rotation)
Shop-based role with consistent workload
