Position: Manufacturing Equipment Technician (MTE)

Job Details

Join Intel’s Advanced Packaging Technology Development – Substrate and Wafer Assembly (ATPD: SWA) team and help drive leading‑edge, cost‑effective substrate packaging solutions. As a Manufacturing Equipment Technician, you will support critical semiconductor manufacturing equipment and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in a highly technical cleanroom production environment.

Shift Information
  • Shift: Shift 5
  • Schedule:

    Day shift, Sunday–Tuesday and every other Wednesday
  • Hours:

    6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical and/or mechanical troubleshooting to diagnose issues with electromechanical semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Dismantle, adjust, repair, and assemble equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating manuals, repair manuals, sketches, and engineering drawings.
  • Set up, calibrate, and conduct preventive maintenance on production tools, emphasizing wet chemistry, plating, and dry high‑vacuum systems.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and findings in accordance with established procedures and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, process, and support teams to improve tool performance, reduce equipment downtime, and enhance process capability and reliability.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis, yield improvement, uptime optimization, and maintenance best‑practice development.

  • Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and toolsets simultaneously.
  • Strong troubleshooting, data analysis, and problem‑solving capabilities, including interpreting equipment data and logs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience using email, web‑based systems, and Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes.
Work Environment And

Physical Requirements
  • Work in a cleanroom environment for extended periods while wearing full cleanroom attire.
  • Work around chemicals, follow all safety procedures, and wear a respirator when required.
  • Lift up to 35 lbs as needed.
  • Climb ladders as required by the role.
  • Spend the majority of the shift on the manufacturing floor working directly with equipment, including:
    • Walking approximately 3–5 miles per shift
    • Standing and/or sitting for extended periods, up to 9 hours per shift depending on task requirements
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), OR
  • Mechanical or technical certification, OR
  • Related semiconductor manufacturing experience (1+ year), OR
  • Equivalent military training in a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of prior experience in troubleshooting, installation, repair, and operation of electronics equipment, wafer fabrication tools, or assembly/test tools.
  • Experience with wet chemistry, plating, and/or dry high‑vacuum equipment in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Use of electrical and/or mechanical measuring devices such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Use of torque wrenches and other standard hand tools.
  • Reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Working on and repairing mechanical and/or electrical equipment systems in a manufacturing, semiconductor, or industrial environment.
