Description
The primary role of the Welder is to make appropriate welds to repair, refurbish or fabricate trash/recycling bins and sometimes trucks.
Responsibilities- 1. Perform welding, fabrication and fabricating repairs on bins and trucks.
- 2. Conduct safety checks on welds and fabrications on bins and trucks.
- 3. Deliver and pick up trash and recycling receptacles as required.
- 4. Utilize fleet maintenance software program to document work.
- 5. Deliver repaired, refurbished and/or fabricated recycling receptacles to customer cites.
- 6. Paint recycling receptacles.
- 8. Observe and comply with hazardous waste and material handling and disposal procedures and regulations as set forth by local, state and federal environmental and health agencies.
- 9. Observe and comply with all applicable safety regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
- 10. Maintain clean, safe and organized work space.
- 11. Maintain collaborative working relationship with drivers, operators and coworkers and communicate timeline for downed vehicles.
- 12. Mentor and provide assistance to Welder Trainees.
- 13. Participate in external, Department and Company-wide trainings to increase skill sets.
- 14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Welding and fabrication principles and practices.
- Tools, equipment and systems used in the practice of welding and fabrication.
- Federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices.
Ability to:
- Maintain a positive attitude with coworkers.
- Proactively establish trust and credibility with coworkers by maintaining accountability.
- Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers.
