Position Overview
We are looking for a candidate who is willing to perform soldering operations to seal a unit cover to housing using a variety of Hi‑temp soldering equipment.
Responsibilities- Work with an induction soldering machine, hi‑temp soldering irons, and acetylene torch.
- Perform backfill with helium/nitrogen gas and conduct water and helium leak tests.
- Rework units until they pass all leak tests.
- Basic electronic assembly hand soldering of electrical wires and mixing chemicals to bond materials.
- Follow specific work instructions on a variety of units.
- Position parts in fixtures for brazing and hi‑temp soldering.
- Set up equipment: induction solder machine, 250‑Watt hi‑temp soldering iron, acetylene torch.
- Select torch tips, solder type, and fluxes per assembly instructions.
- Adjust acetylene gas cylinder regulator for optimum torch flame.
- Set up leak test rig including adjustment of nitrogen and oxygen gas cylinder regulators.
- Examine hi‑temp joined areas for integrity – bead size, penetration, etc.
- Grind off excess slag or spatter.
- Clean parts using solvent.
- Maintain equipment including fabricating induction soldering machine heating coils.
- Maintain inventory control of all materials and chemicals used.
- Maintain work area clean and orderly in compliance with EHS regulations.
- Operate 11149 sensor test rig, using hot oil and hot air to calibrate and test built sensors.
- Hands‑on position requiring manual dexterity and coordination skills.
- 2nd shift:
Monday to Friday, 2:30 pm to 11 pm.
- Occasional weekend and holiday support may be required.
- Exposure to products of various weights and sizes, equipment with moving parts, and chemicals that may emit fumes.
- Must wear static‑control and personal protective equipment.
- Ability to perform functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Distinguishing colors that meet vision requirements.
- Bending, stooping, reaching, turning to place units, pick up totes, and place units on racks.
- Using hands for extended periods for testing and troubleshooting tasks.
- Stand for 2‑hour increments without opportunity to sit.
- Lift 25 pounds.
- Transport product with or without product carts.
Required
- High school diploma (or equivalent) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline with at least one year of relevant experience.
- Experience with solder and electromechanical assembly.
- Experience with schematics or blueprints.
- Experience using a computer for data lookup and entry.
Preferred
- J‑Standard certification.
- Experience in the aerospace industry.
- Experience with thermal principles applied to metals and familiarity with metalworking concepts.
