CNC Machinist IV

The CNC Machinist IV is responsible for performing accurate and timely set-ups utilizing CNC mill or lathe machining centers. Proficient in accurate change-over of machine set-ups. Ensure conformance to customer requirements using calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection. Record and comprehend company work instructions and set-up books.

Shift: Monday-Friday 5am-3:30pm (Occasional Saturday's)

$1500.00 Sign On Bonus at 1 year.

Essential Duties:

  • Proficient with inspection equipment. OD Mics, , Depth Mics, Bore Gages, Gage Blocks, Gage Pins, Height Gage, Cadillac Height Stand, Calipers, Test indicators, Dial Chamfer Gages, Radius Gages, Drop Indicators, Optical Comparator.
  • Shop Math. Read and apply the following dimensions:(.100",.010",.001",.0001",.00001"). Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Trigonometry, Geometry, Metric conversions, Faction conversions
  • Interpret drawings – Utilize GD&T and recognize GD&T symbols. Form :
    Flatness, Straightness, Cylindricity, Circularity. Orientation :
    Perpendicularity, Parallelism, Angularity. Location :
    Position, Profile of a surface, Profile of a line | Concentricity, Symmetry. Runout :
    Circular Run
  • Perform precision setup of proven jobs per the Work Instruction (signed-off/on applicable WI's).
  • Locate and Interpret setup book
  • Load programs from DNC
  • Perform fixture changes – Align fixture in all axis
  • Perform tool changes – Set tool lengths/Use tool setter – Touch-off tools – Recognize tool wear – Adjust wear offsets – Document tool changes.
  • Independently operate assigned machine(Mill, Lathe, Grinder).
  • Meet quality objectives – per setup book In-process inspection criteria
  • Maintain established production rates
  • Follow safety practices per applicable machining JSA's, and PPE requirements per department PPE matrix (Form 74-08-01).
  • Complete daily TPM requirements
  • Maintain workstation 6S standards
  • Proficient on multiple machines (Haas VF3, VF6, Mazak) and/or machine types (Mills & Lathes)
  • Capable of running all part numbers in a given part family in at least one work center
  • Qualified Trainer. Train new hires and employees new to the dept according to work instructions and setup books (Complete train the trainer classes)
  • NPI Set up. Prove out new NC programs provided by the programming dept.
  • Provide guidance on cutting tool and holder selection
  • Effectively adjust speeds and feeds and provide feedback to programming dept
  • Leader. Sets example for others to follow. Assists other operators. Follow all BKM's
  • Trouble shoot machine issues
  • Identifies potential quality issues prior to occurrence
  • Contributes in RCCA investigations
  • Implements machining related corrective actions
  • Work directly with engineering design team and programming to dept.
  • Provide/recommend manufacturing methods.
  • Evaluate drawings and provide feedback on GD&T according to design intent.
  • Determine raw material dimensions.
  • Programming. Write and Edit NC Code /CAM experience a plus.
  • Machine Set Up:
    Determine and/or create appropriate fixture based on part drawing. Determine clamping based on setup book and/or program.
  • Inspection:
    Evaluate critical features based off understanding of design intent. Determine appropriate inspection equipment and frequency.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations:

  • N/A

Education and/or Experience

Required:

  • High School diploma, GED equivalent, or Technical School.
  • Minimum 10 years CNC experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability at operating CNC Machines and interpreting G & M codes.
  • Changing cutting tools and accurately adjusting offsets.
  • Ability to set-up jobs independently.
  • Ability to read part drawings, apply GD&T concepts and rules to understand geometric requirements.
  • Ability to correctly use and interpret measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, thread gages, chamfer gages, pin gage, test indicators, drop indicators, height gages, optical comparators.
  • Implement 6S concepts.
  • Basic computer skills:
    Excel, Word, Outlook.
