Job Responsibilities
- Efficiently plan and direct crew members to maximize daily production.
- Address personnel discrepancies and resolve conflict.
- Issue praise or disciplinary action to employees fairly and consistently when needed.
- Ensure employees follow safety practices and work in a safe manner.
- Monitor machinery and environment for unsafe practices or conditions.
- Ensure compliance with GMP/HACCP procedures, PPE requirements, company and departmental policies, and SQF requirements.
- Understand job requirements and perform at IP, PMO Tech, and Print Tech levels.
- Record production data accurately.
- Monitor and ensure quality standards are met; minimize scrap; maximize production flow.
- Hold crew meetings, encourage team building, and train a backup group leader.
- Maintain employee Kronos, performance, and training records.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine appropriate action plans.
- Ensure scrap is accurately accounted for and printers are repaired promptly.
- Monitor and minimize the use of support supplies (inks, blankets, rags).
- Communicate effectively with incoming group leaders and technicians.
- Work with quality control to maximize quality and minimize downtime.
- Meet departmental goals of EFF, MEEF, and scrap accountability.
- Lead safety activities, provide clear communication of safe work expectations, and investigate line/equipment stoppages due to safety risks.
- Complete responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Actively lead risk assessment activities, driving corrective and preventive actions to reduce environmental, health, or safety risks.
- Lead required safety meetings (pre‑shift, department, change management, general communication, town hall).
- Complete incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Ensure proper training and development of all assigned employees.
- Set goals for the organizational unit, achieve them, and ensure employees understand and work toward those goals.
- Motivate and coach employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.
- Identify and coordinate additional training as needed.
- Safety Leadership – Embodies commitment to a safe workplace, acts as a role model, and communicates safety initiatives.
- Accountability – Holds self accountable, demonstrates initiative and ownership, prioritizing safety over productivity.

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three to five years of supervisory, quality, or dry‑offset printing experience.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Mathematical proficiency: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of bar graphs.
- Reasoning ability: define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret technical instructions.
- Physical demands: regularly sit, walk, talk, hear, taste, smell, stand, use hands, lift up to 35 lbs, and perform tasks requiring stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
