Digital Building Components (DBC), part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking a Roll Form Operator who will be responsible for setup, operation, maintenance, and quality of production for our roll forming line. The operator uses a variety of machines and shop tools such as wrenches, feeler gauges, and computerized controls, and also works with band saws, drills, grinders, gauges, and material handling devices while performing additional work as a steel saw operator.
Responsibilities- Work lead to achieve the production goals to meet or exceed daily goals. Plan, Do, Adjust.
- Perform area inspections and/or preventative maintenance needed daily or as scheduled.
- Report labor tracking for group daily.
- Maintain setup charts for all sets of roll form tooling.
- Perform tooling setup and line changeover on roll form machine to produce cross sections to print specifications.
- Perform setup/equipment adjustments as necessary to maintain dimensional tolerances of cross sections being produced.
- Perform routine/scheduled maintenance on all roll form line equipment, keeping a log of all maintenance performed.
- Train other employees in basic roll form operation and support function.
- Read basic blueprints and sketches to fabricate metal components.
- Set up and operate machines to produce specified components, making minor machine adjustments to ensure satisfactory production.
- Operate equipment under strict safety requirements.
- Manage machine operators to set up machine, and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces.
- Properly fill out coil tags, ensuring footage is correct to aid with inventory in D365.
- Check panel for quality, width, and length.
- Stock and organize carts of produced parts as required by next work area.
- Maintain usage logs – scrap, loose framing material, other misc. items.
Skills and Abilities
- Basic computer skills, working in smartsheet, Excel, and Word.
- Positive interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues.
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
- Ability to thrive in a multitasking environment.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude.
- 3 years of manufacturing experience.
- 2 years of forklift experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and machine skills acquired through trade school or related experience.
- Must have prior machine operator experience (roll forming a plus).
- Experience working with AMS controllers is a plus.
- Experience working with Eclipse is a plus.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. and push heavy materials around the factory.
- Skill and dexterity in the operation of machines and tools.
- Wear required PPE, such as protective helmet, goggles, gloves, etc.
- Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
