Brief Description
DOLPHIN, INC. is seeking a Metal Finisher that will prepare cast metal parts for subsequent production operations by removing shell, scale, rust, excess metal, and other surface imperfections using sandblasting, grinding, deburring, cutoff, robotic, and knockout equipment. This position follows travel cards, MES instructions, work instructions, and product specifications to ensure parts meet quality, safety, and production requirements.
ShiftThis is a full-time position (40 hours a week). Monday-Thursday 5:00am - 3:30pm

- Reviews travel cards for special instructions and prepares parts for sandblasting operations.
- Loads parts into sandblast cabinets and adds the specified grade of sand to the machine hopper.
- Operates sandblast equipment at required pressure levels to remove shell, scale, or other foreign material from castings.
- Examines finished parts to verify conformance to specifications.
- Reviews travel cards and MES instructions before beginning degating work.
- Uses grinders and fixtures to remove excess metal from castings.
- Performs routine equipment care, including replacing belts and maintaining tools as needed.
- Reviews travel cards and MES instructions before performing deburring operations.
- Uses air-powered tools to remove excess metal from the interior and exterior of castings.
- Checks dimensions using measuring instruments and inspects parts against customer, industry, and product specifications.
- Identifies casting flaws, determines appropriate correction methods, and separates conforming and nonconforming product as required.
- Moves completed parts to the next operation or designated staging area.
- Maintains deburring tools and work area in safe operating condition.
- Reviews travel cards and work instructions before performing cutoff or robotic operations.
- Starts saw equipment, positions material against the end stop and under the saw and performs required cutting operations.
- Separates parts from gates and places gates into properly marked alloy-specific containers to prevent cross-contamination.
- Reviews travel cards and MES instructions before beginning knockout operations.
- Loads setups into knockout cabinets using a hand crane.
- Removes setups from knockout cabinets and transfers them to the spin blaster using a hand crane.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance for this full-time position.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read basic English instructions, recognize similarities and differences between words and number sequences, print clearly, and communicate using simple sentences.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10s and 100s.
- Ability to perform basic calculations involving American money, weight, volume, and distance measurements.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to work with standardized situations involving occasional or no variables.
- Knowledge of different alloys and safe alloy-handling practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
- Basic tablet or iPad experience.
- Ability to complete forklift driving safety certification training, if required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work safely and conscientiously while adhering to all safety rules and procedures.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to work any shift as determined by production needs.
