Bindery Production Operator – Night Shift

District Photo Inc. — Phoenix, Arizona

Overview

At District Photo, we seek a Bindery Production Operator in our Phoenix factory. The operator will run and maintain bindery and digital press equipment, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance while following safety policies to produce a quality product.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain a range of bindery and printing equipment; adapt as needed to meet production goals.
  • Uphold quality standards by reviewing products for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule, or templates.
  • Monitor machine operation to detect defects or malfunctions and escalate issues to appropriate personnel when required.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance and document activities accordingly.
  • Train new operators with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Assist other operators to set up machines and perform tasks to meet deadlines and complete products.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency in all tasks.
Preferred Skills/Knowledge
  • Familiarity with Digital Print Press and Bindery equipment such as HP Indigo, Canon, Muller Martini (Vareo, Bindery BA513 and DA260).
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and diagnoses.
  • 6S experience.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating specialized print press machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong reading and writing skills to interpret technical documents, job specifications, complete reports, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, 6S and quality control procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have a flexible schedule during high production peak seasons.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for extended periods and be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
